RollerCoaster Tycoon World™ is the newest installment in the main series for the RollerCoaster Tycoon series. It includes many new features, such as user-generated content, as well as features greatly enhanced from previous editions, such as much more flexibility when building roller coasters. It was released on November 16, 2016.
History
The last edition released for the main RollerCoaster Tycoon series before RollerCoaster Tycoon World was RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, on October 26, 2004. For a long time after this, only spin-offs of the main series were released. Finally, RollerCoaster Tycoon World was released on November 16, 2016, following a pre-release that was released shortly beforehand. Since then, RollerCoaster Tycoon Touch was released in December 2016, as the mobile equivalent of RollerCoaster Tycoon World.
Core game features
RollerCoaster Tycoon World contains many available features for the player to use. Many of these were present in previous editions of RollerCoaster Tycoon, but existing features have been enhanced, and some new features were added in RollerCoaster Tycoon 3.
Detailed park management tools
RollerCoaster Tycoon World contains many tools that can help with park management. Some of these have been present in the original RollerCoaster Tycoon, or other previous editions, while others are exclusive to RollerCoaster Tycoon World. As would be expected in an amusement park, you can make rides, including gentle rides, roller coasters, water parks, and more, as well as food stalls, information stalls, and pathways. In addition, you can also alter the terrain, which includes the ability to make hills, craters, lakes, waterfalls, trees, shrubs, flowers, and more.
RollerCoaster Tycoon World updated tools from previous editions to make rides and pathways more 3D and realistic. Curves can now be made on roller coasters, going at any angle, rather than just straight and diagonal, and the same is with slopes. Likewise, pathways can also now be curved, in addition to having many more styles of paths available.
Game modes
RollerCoaster Tycoon World also features many game modes to play in. In sandbox mode, the player has unlimited money, and all rides are unlocked, making it very useful when making large parks, without having to worry about missions to complete or budgets. In campaign and scenario modes, unlike sandbox modes, the player must complete missions in order to unlock certain rides, and you have a limited amount of money to start off with.
Themed attractions
Like other RollerCoaster Tycoon editions, RollerCoaster Tycoon World allows for different themed attractions and scenery. Many times, players will make different sections of a park a different theme. For example, one may decide to have one section of a park a Western theme, and have all rides, scenery, and stalls in the area be Western themed.
Advanced physics calculations
RollerCoaster Tycoon World has much more advanced physics than previous editions. For example, in other RollerCoaster Tycoon editions, paths would fit into only squares, and roller coasters would have limited angles and turns. Now, however, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 uses a more complex physics simulation, which allows for amazing designs and a lifelike experience, for roller coasters, pathways, and more.
Staff services
All RollerCoaster Tycoon editions allowed for the hiring of staff to enhance your park. However, in RollerCoaster Tycoon World you can manage Medical, Janitorial, Entertainment and Mechanical differently, with the re-designed, simple-yet-powerful services system.
